JOSEPH B. (“J.B.”) HOURIHAN, born January 31, 1918, Miami Beach, Florida. Died November 23, 2009, Gainesville, FL. Graduated from Gesu High School and attended the University of Miami. Served in the U.S. Navy from December 1941 until November, 1945.
Former Vice President of Dade Commonwealth Title Insurance Company, and of Amerifirst Federal Savings and Loan Association of Miami.
Former President of the Emerald Society of South Florida, and of the Kiwanis Club of Kendall/Southwest Miami (now South Miami Club), and former member of the Kiwanis Club of the University City, Gainesville, Florida.
Preceded in death by his wife Alice (Patsy) Hourihan. Survived by a son, Kevin J. Hourihan, of Orlando, Florida.
At the time of his death he is believed to have had the oldest continuous Real Estate Broker’s License in the state of Florida, dating back to the late 1940s.
A Rosary will be said at 10:15 a.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 S.W. 24th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, 32607.
